pcProx® Configuration Utility
The pcProxConfig Software utility provides users with the ability to configure their pcProx® Plus BLE readers to meet their needs. Through the configuration process, desired credential data output and access privileges for cardholders can be established.
When the pcProx Plus BLE is connected to a computer and the configuration utility is accessed, the Bluetooth configuration tab becomes active. Here, the ability to enable or disable the Bluetooth RF radio and/or RFID RF circuitry can be managed. The reader powers up with the Bluetooth low energy module off.
The utility also allows the pcProx Plus configuration process to create up to four separate configurations for users.
The pcProx® Plus BLE with Bluetooth low energy technology incorporates the Bluegiga BLE113 which is a certified Bluetooth Smart module provided by Silicon Labs. It is suited for short-range wireless applications and meets industry standards for wireless protocol. A separate SDK from Silicon Labs is required and can be downloaded at no charge directly from their site here www.silabs.com/products/development-tools/software/bluegiga-bluetooth-smart-software-stack.
The Silicon Labs SDK is developer-friendly with a flexible development architecture and allows developers to write applications around the use of Bluetooth low energy solutions. Mobile devices equipped with Bluetooth low energy can be used as a secure authentication and identification credential providing employees the flexibility of using their device or their ID badge.
The pcProx Plus BLE is a key element of an overall indoor mobility, tracking or identification application that may also incorporate the use of inexpensive beacons. Beacons are widely available from numerous companies such as BlueCats, Estimote and Kontakt.IO.
